If you go down to the woods today…….. you just might see me sitting in the fairy-lit window of my dreams! Now travelling Europe certainly has its perks but I am well aware that 50% of my readers are from the UK. With this in mind, I want to make sure that I’m also blogging about UK destinations that may take your fancy and that might be a little more accessible. Besides, who doesn’t like being a tourist in their own country? Some of my favourite trips have been in Great Britain and this one is certainly no exception. So are you sitting comfortably? Let’s get down and dirty with the absolute glamping goals that is Brook House Woods in Herefordshire.
Now Brook House Woods is certainly not your average glamping site. There are 6 different accommodation options to choose from, including a Yurt, a suspended Goji Tent, Treehouses and the Hobbit Hut that I stayed in. So whatever it is that tickles your pickle, I’m pretty certain that you will find it here on the 65 acre site in Bromyard. And if you’re looking for a way to ice your glamping cake – Brook House Woods also offer a whole bunch of workshops – covering woodwork, chocolate making, yoga and many more.
Now, as I have mentioned, I was so very lucky to spend the night in The Hobbit Hut, but I also had the chance to have a nosey around the Venn Treehouse. Now perhaps when you hear the word “Treehouse” you are conjuring up images of the typical shack up a tree that you made in the back garden as a child. No my friend – the treehouses at Brook House Woods are nothing but luxury and include a wood burning stove, an outdoor bath and a bbq on the veranda. There’s also an indoor bathroom, all the amenities you could possibly need and of course the view over the Malvern Hills.
The Hobbit Hut is, in my opinion just the most special little woodland getaway. The hut was built locally in the early 2000’s and after a bit of a revamp recently it is now basically pure cabin goals. Featuring a king size bed underneath a fairy lit window – no blinds or curtains so you are literally falling asleep and waking up to all the sights and sounds of nature. The Hobbit Hut also has a log burning stove and it shares a communal kitchen, an outdoor shower, a compost toilet and a dining area with the nearby yurt. There is no wifi here, but rest assured there are solar powered USB chargers and plenty of network coverage so you can be sure to show off your own little bit of Hobbiton on your Insta stories (Who would even do this? I DID THIS)!
There’s something so incredibly liberating about spending a night in a place like this. I was quite surprised to find that I slept amazingly well even with a cheeky little squirrel dropping nuts on to the roof intermittently. I awoke feeling refreshed and quite brave (I’ve watched too many cabin in the wood type horror movies). Brave enough even to hop in to the outdoor shower before rustling up some breakfast and heading out to find the nearby walking trails. Just want to add here by the way, that all of the wooden structures including the shower and toilet cubicles have been built on site by owners Will and Penny alongside a small team of local craftspeople. You may have figured out by this point that they are super talented people. But they’ve also thought of just about everything you could possibly need on a glamping vacay. Cut to me ordering an in hobbit hut massage, a pizza for my personal pizza oven and a breakfast hamper. I joke….. but these things are available and those special little touches don’t go unnoticed.
It’s hard to believe that such a secluded place is just a couple of hours drive from London. I’m mentioning this because if you are visiting the UK capital then Brook House Woods would still definitely be a viable option for a relaxing getaway. There is also plenty to visit and see in the surrounding area, including the Cotswolds and the villages of The Slaughters, Bilbury and Stow. I guess what I’m trying to say here is that whatever you decide to do, you will not be bored. I myself just enjoyed the quiet and solitude, all cosied up with a book and Netflix. But for those feeling slightly more adventurous, you certainly have plenty of options.
Brook House Woods and their Hobbit Hut is easily one of the coolest places that I’ve ever stayed at in the UK. It isn’t just beautiful, it’s also incredibly eco friendly and this is something that has become increasingly important to me when I’m considering travel options. I’m already day dreaming about returning soon to try out their Goji Tent or the Yurt. You can book your very own glamping stay right here and I hand on heart guarantee that you will not be disappointed. Please comment below if you do go ahead and book so I can get ridiculously excited for you.
